It was about the 17th or 18th of March, 1993, and I woke up in a room at the Villas Cerdena Hotel in Cancun. Call it an epiphany, or call it an Acme-sized hangover from rotgut tequila the night before, but I knew something for sure at that moment. I was home.
“Home” as I knew it, wasn`t anything luxurious or even large. It was a 10 by 10 concrete cube with a shower. Not even on the beach. But as I looked out the window on that morning and saw the beautiful colors of Nichupte Lagoon, something in me said “stay, Andrew”. And I obeyed that feeling.
So now it’s over twenty years later. With a wife, growing kids and a multifaceted professional life, it still feels like home. Maybe more so than that first day.
So why write a blog? I want to share some of my stories, experiences and perspectives. I may be no more qualified to lend opinions on certain subjects than anyone else, but hey, it’s my blog. Go get your own. I’m kidding, but I do like to enjoy a little humor.
I hope that in reading my words you’ll understand Mexico a little better, or at the very least, gain an appreciation of its colors and flavor.
Saludos and buen provecho, my friends….
Andy
